Emily Wittbrodt: Absorb everything

In recent years, experimental music festivals have increasingly spotlighted instrumentalists who blur the boundaries between classical, jazz, and electronic music. This new generation of artists seamlessly weaves together microtonal composition, electroacoustics, and improvisation—often crafting their own instruments in the process. Among them, cellist and composer Emily Wittbrodt is an exciting presence. Born in Bonn in 1994 and now based in Cologne, Wittbrodt has been pushing musical boundaries through her solo work and collaborations with projects like Ludwig Wittbrodt, hilde, schoerken wittbrodt, vließ, and ephemeral fragments since 2020.
